INGURUPLAS: Development of a systematic and quantitative method for the diagnosis and evaluation of the plastic environmental impact of industrial SMEs in Gipuzkoa.

Objectives

Definition and analysis of the plastic balance of industrial companies in the territory. Identifying the typology and quantity of plastics consumed in Gipuzkoa's industry is of vital importance, since their composition produces different environmental impacts in the territory. In addition, it will allow us to have a vision of the environmental impact according to the balance of polymers consumed in the territory.

Calculation of the plastic environmental impact of industrial companies in Gipuzkoa: to calculate the plastic environmental impact in Gipuzkoa's industry and in the territory, it is necessary to consider different factors such as the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced during the production and transport of plastic, the amount of energy used for its production, recycling, etc...

Proposal of a set of circular strategies aimed at improving the plastic environmental impact reduction potential of industrial companies in the territory. Based on bibliographic analysis around good circular practices at international level, companies will be provided with a set of possible circular solutions to be implemented depending on their plastic balance and level of environmental impact, aimed at improving their sustainability.

Contributing:

  • Diagnosis and quantification of the environmental impact of the plastic balance of the participating Gipuzkoan SMEs.
  • Calculation of the reduction of the environmental impact of the company associated with the implementation of the proposed circular strategies.
  • Improvement of the traceability of environmental data associated with the plastic environmental impact of the company's products.
  • Design of a roadmap of circular strategies focused on enhancing the reduction of the plastic environmental footprint of the participating companies and therefore, of the territory.
  • Decision-making aimed at improving the circularity and sustainability of the company based on sustainable productivity.
  • Assistance to the company in obtaining Environmental Product Declarations (EDP/DAP) through certifications associated with its Product Category Rules (PCR) such as ISO14004 and ISO14048 or UNE-EN15343 for data traceability.
