MIGRATIO – Personas migrantes y Economía Social como motor de desarrollo sostenible

Project

MIGRATIO – Migrants and the social economy as drivers of sustainable development

Projects Objectives

MIGRATIO aims to strengthen the capacity of migrants to promote economic and community projects within the framework of the social economy, combining close support with physical and digital infrastructure. The main objectives are:

  • Detect and adapt ‘copy–cut’ business opportunities: identify models that already work in other regions and countries and adjust them to the local realities of Bilbao, Madrid, and other territories.
  • Create a structured support space: provide a working environment, training and support where migrants can define, compare and develop their initiatives.
  • Develop a social franchise model: productize, document and test a replicable scheme that allows successful experiences to be extended to other neighborhoods and territories, prioritizing social and community impact.
  • Strengthen the support ecosystem: forge alliances between social economy entities, public administrations and grassroots organizations to offer comprehensive and coordinated support pathways.

Results

Throughout the MIGRATIO project, the following results, among others, have been achieved:

  • Provision of a workspace and support equipped with resources for training sessions, group work and basic prototyping, complemented by a digital platform that facilitates monitoring and ongoing contact.
  • Accompanied migrant persons: several dozen persons have participated in information, training, and support activities, with a significant presence of women and persons in situations of particular social vulnerability.
  • New projects underway: based on a portfolio of ‘copy–cut’ ideas, various initiatives have been launched that have progressed from the initial idea to the testing, model adjustment and effective implementation phases in the territory.
  • Prototype social franchise model: a social franchise scheme has been designed and tested for initiatives led by migrants, leaving guidelines, standard agreements and lessons learned ready for future replication.
  • Strengthened ecosystem: the project has consolidated collaboration between social economy entities and organisations working with migrant populations, generating a methodological and relational basis that allows the MIGRATIO approach to continue beyond the funding period.
